Chapter 1

She sat looking out the window, as the rain battered down on the roof of the house. It had been nearly 4 years since that day. She sat there waiting for a letter from him. The room was dimly lit with a candle as she didn't want to use much electricity. The phone rang and she nearly jumped out of her skin. She had been jumpy lately. Quite nervous of everything.
"H-hello?" She answered.

"Esraella?" A voice asked from the other side of the phone. It was clearly a man's voice.

"I'm sorry sir, we're closed for the evening," She began.

"Esraella, I'm not looking for business. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Damyen Kovalski, I work for corporate..." He began.

"Sir, please, I am not looking to buy anything. I do apologize, however, I am not interested." She said, cutting him off.

"No, I'm not selling anything. Look, forget the company name, I'm calling to help you." He said.

"Help me? YOU want to help ME? Sir, I hardly think you can be of any help with solving all my problems life deals me each day." She told him.

"Esraella, I know what happened to you four years ago," He began. That statement sent a chill down her spine. She stopped.

"Sir, I really don't think," She started.

"I know you feel like you could have saved that boy and I also know that you've been trying to contact the father for some time." He said.

"What are you? Some kind of stalker? There is clearly more to it than that. I did not intend on anything happening to my son if that's what you're implying. Sir, I do bid you a good day." She snapped at him and threw down the receiver. The phone made a loud ringing noise as it was slammed down. She was so angry at this point she was shaking.

"Oh, Samuel, my Samuel. How I wish I could turn back the hands of time. How I wish your father would contact me." She said to herself as she sobbed silently. Other than her silent cries, the house was very quiet.

Esraella lived in a Queen Anne style home built in 1875. The house was passed down through her family. She was the town clairvoyant.

--------------------------------------------- 4 years earlier ------------------------------------------

He and his son moved into the house with her for a while, looking for room and board and since it was a big enough house, she allowed them to stay with the conditions that they pay rent. He was in his early 50's and his son was in his 20's. She was in her 20's as well.

"Hello ma'am, my name is Jeremiah and this is my son Jeffery. I contacted you earlier this week about the place you have available? See, we need a room or two, we will help you with rent. This is quite a house." He started.

"Oh yes, you were the ones looking to room with me. You must have saw my ad in the paper. This house is indeed quite a house. It is a Queen Anne, built in the victorian era. 1875, to be precise. My great great grandfather built this house for my great great grandmother. This was her dream home. Everything was made custom for her and I've been keeping it up for the past few years." She said to him.

"A house with history, very nice." His son chimed in. His son, a boy of 23, had dark brown eyes and thick brown wavy hair that went down to his shoulders. He had pale skin, and a nice smile. His father had the same features, except his hair was kept short and neat.

"Do come in, I will give you the keys to your bedrooms. Let me first lay down the rules. No smoking, no eating in the bedrooms, no snooping, and no drugs." She said to them.

"My, what a list of rules you have there, did you forget anything?" The son responded with a smirk. She glared at him.

"Jeffery, manners please" His father scolded.

"Right this way." She said to them, as she led them up the spiral staircase. They stopped at a room, it had stained glass windows and a large tower room.

"This is my bedroom." She said to them. She led them to another room, they were adjacent to one another. They were a little bit smaller than the room she stayed in, but they were both still quite large.

"These will be your rooms. I do hope you both are comfortable." She said to them.

"Tonight, we will be having Lobster Fra Diavolo." She said to them.

"Lobster? Sounds good to me" Jeremiah said to her. She looked at him in approval. Jeffery already went out to the car to grab his stuff and start unpacking.

"Dinner should be ready around 7, we will be eating in the large dining room downstairs. I will prepare the meals." She said to them.

"Sounds exciting." Jeffery said without looking up from unpacking his things.

She walked down the spiral staircase to allow them to get settled in. She went into the kitchen to prepare dinner for the three of them. She also provided drinks for them including beer and red wine.

7 o clock rolled around, she had the table set up and dinner put on the table. Jeremiah, smelling the food came down to see what was served. Jeffery soon followed afterward.

"Smells good." Jeremiah said. He looked and saw the table set, saw the lobster fra diavolo, a large salad, and the wine. He looked impressed.

"Dinner is served," I said to the both of them as I motioned for them to have a seat at the table.
